2003 Foretravel U-320 At the end of July, 2004 we found a 2003 U-320 for sale at the factory. This unit had previously been used by the Foretravel Motorcade Club on various Club sponsored motorcades. Obviously being owned and serviced by the Factory, the coach was in excellent condition, with 25,000 miles. The floor plan is designated as the AGDS, meaning Angle Galley, Double Slide. The Angle Galley has the sink part of the counter 'angled' out away from the side wall, providing a desk area in the 'angle' area. The front slide, on the driver side contains the couch and dinette, making for a really spacious living area. The rear slide on the curb side contains a double closet with sliding mirrored doors, allowing plenty walking room around the Queen Bed. Mechanically, it has a 450hp Cummins Turbo Diesel with an Allison 6 speed transmission with a retarder. The retarder has to be the greatest invention ever for a motorhome. Rather than an exhaust brake (like Pac Brake) or a Jake Brake (like an 18 wheeler) the Retarder is a transmission brake. With a 6 position Joy Stick, in order to start slowing down, I simply pull the joy stick back a notch or two, causing the transmission to retard the engine and slow the coach without using the brakes. This feature becomes very important and useful on a downhill mountain grade. I simply use the retarder to hold the speed down without ever touching the brakes. In the entertainment/communication realm, we have the Trac Star In-Motion satellite system with Dish Network with two TV's and a Bose sound system with DVD player and a VHS Recorder/Player. We recently installed the DataStorm internet satellite with the 4020 modems and the D2 automatic dish controller. We have two computers on board, one Dell laptop (Keith's) and one Dell Desktop (Donna's), connected with a wireless router, which is connected to the satellite dish. Internet service is provided by Ground Control. Our download speeds are comparable to or better than DSL, and upload speed are comparable to a FAST Dial Up service. For comfort we have two 15,000 BTU air conditioners with Heat Pumps. To supplement the cabin heat we have the Diesel fueled Aqua Hot. Hot water is also provided by the Aqua Hot, or by electric power, or when driving, by engine heat circulated through the water heater. When shore power is not available, we have a 10kw diesel generator by Power Tech.
